Richard Sacco

Richard “Dick” Sacco was born in November of 1942. Dick attended the Utica Schools and Marist Seminary Prep School in Massachusetts, MVCC and HCCC. He played semiprofessional football for three
different teams including league champions “Colonials”. He studied Tae Kwon Do under Grand Master Clifford Crandall and he did a little amateur boxing.

Dick received an Honorable Discharge from the US Navy. He is divorced, has five children and 8 grandchildren. He worked at the Special Metals Corporation for 35 years. He was, also, an Emergency Responder for over 35 years. Dick served on the church council at Zion Lutheran in New Hartford for several years. He was in charge of the property maintenance for the church, schools, playgrounds, parking lots, House of the Good Shepard office building and rectory. He was responsible for all new construction, repairs and maintenance.

Noble Sacco became interested in the Stephen Ministry. He enrolled in the ministry and became a Stephen’s Lay Minister helping and working with people in the greater Utica area who were dealing with
crisis situations. Dick also worked with area hospitals as working as clergy with the sick especially the terminal cancer patients. After four years of being a Stephens Minister, Dick was asked to become a Stephens Leader and
teacher/director. He attended Layola College in Baltimore, Maryland and became a Stephens Ministry Leader in August of 1988. Along with his director duties he also taught the subject of grief, what it is,
and how to deal with it.

Dick became a Master Mason in 2014 at Utica Lodge #47. In 2015, Noble Sacco became a Shriner. Soon after, he became a part f the Ziyara Zanies (Clowns). “Doodles” the clown was born. He was elected as
President and Director of the Zanies Clown Unit for the last four years.
